CHOSEN AGAIN

“For the LORD will have mercy on Jacob and will yet choose Israel…” (Isaiah 14:1)

Imagine a person saying to his or her spouse after many difficult years and saying, “If I had the chance to choose again, I would still choose you.”

That is the heart of Isaiah 14:1.

Israel had failed God repeatedly. They had wandered into idolatry, faced discipline, and were headed for exile. Yet God says, “I will yet choose Israel.” His choice was not based on Israel’s perfection but on His covenant love and mercy.

This is the gospel in miniature.

In Christ, God does not love us because we have never failed Him. He loves us because His grace is greater than our failures. When we repent and return to Him, we discover that His heart has not changed. He still calls us His own.

Every believer can hear an echo of this promise, “I have not given up on you. My mercy is new every morning. I still choose you because you belong to Me.”

Prayer: Father, thank You that Your love is steadfast and Your mercy never fails. Though I have often fallen short, You have not abandoned me. Thank You for choosing me in Christ and reminding me that You’ve no regret in choosing me in the first place.  Help me to live today in grateful obedience to Your faithful love. Amen.
