KEYS TO MAKING PLURALITY WORK (two sessions) (Thoroughly Training and Equipping Prospective Elders)
Speaker: Alexander Strauch
Many times I have heard people say, "No one ever trained me to be an elder." Sometimes men become elders, and after a period of time, the other elders are shocked by the new elder's inadequate or faulty doctrinal beliefs, his inability to work with the team or significant character flaws. To make eldership work effectively, the elders must deliberately train, equip, and prepare prospective elders before they join the eldership team. These two sessions will provide specific ways to make this happen.
PROMOTING AND PRESERVING THE JOY OF LEADERSHIP - Session 1 (Making the Most of Your Leadership Experience)
Speaker: Bob Deffinbaugh
The writer to the Hebrews says that joyful leadership is advantageous, not only for the leaders, but for the whole church (Hebrews 13:17). This session will focus on biblical ways that leaders can enhance their own joy, and the joy of others who lead in the church (not to mention the joy of the congregation).
THE BENEFITS OF STEPPING BACK - Session 2 (Knowing When to Take a Break)
Speaker: Bob Deffinbaugh
It may seem strange to hear someone encouraging others to step back from leadership, especially when we have to work hard to convince men to step up to leadership. This session will focus on some good reasons to step back from leadership, and I believe that taking note of these reasons may actually encourage some men to take on a leadership role in the church. This is intended to help us all become better leaders.
